Kitchen Remodeling in Shaker Heights: A Warm and Timeless Transformation

This beautiful Shaker Heights kitchen remodel reflects everything we love about thoughtful design — timeless materials, smart functionality, and cozy, livable warmth.

Our clients wanted a kitchen that felt bright and welcoming, but not stark or cold. After discussing the design together, we decided on a palette of light, creamy tones — soft and warm, rather than a pure white. The result is a space that feels both fresh and inviting, perfectly complementing the character of this historic home.

Warm Tones and Textural Details

For the countertops, we chose a warm-tone quartz that pairs beautifully with the cabinetry. The 4×4 backsplash tile ties the palette together, and we laid it in a half-offset pattern to introduce a subtle rhythm and texture without overwhelming the space.

The hardware from Top Knobs in a honey bronze finish adds just the right amount of traditional charm, and the Moen faucet matches perfectly — a cohesive detail that makes the entire design feel intentional and complete.

Function Meets Thoughtful Design

One of our client’s requests was to include a small morning coffee corner — a cozy space to start the day. To make that happen, we added a built-in bench by the window, surrounded by storage on all sides.

We also incorporated a fold-down table, a creative solution that gives extra work or dining space when needed but folds away neatly when not in use. It’s functional, efficient, and blends seamlessly into the kitchen’s design.

Hidden Comfort and Smart Details

This home uses radiator heating, and one of our favorite design touches is how we incorporated that into the cabinetry. The radiator is hidden behind a decorative grill, with a dish cabinet above. During the winter, when the family sets the table, the dishes are warm — a small detail that adds a surprising bit of everyday comfort.

We also added an air button for the garbage disposal, installed right next to the sink. It’s waterproof, convenient, and helps keep the countertop looking clean and uncluttered.

A Kitchen That Feels Like Home

Every choice in this kitchen — from the materials to the layout — was made to balance functionality with a sense of warmth and character. The result is a space that feels bright, soft, and homey, fitting perfectly with the architectural charm of this Shaker Heights home.
